The three pickup zones
Hotel pickup for the Castillo San Miguel evening is offered from the three main resort areas that run along Tenerife's southern coast — Los Cristianos, Playa de las Américas and Costa Adeje — which between them cover the great majority of visitor accommodation in the south of the island. If your hotel or apartment sits in or reasonably close to one of these three zones, the transfer option included on most bookings is by far the simplest way to reach a venue that's inland from the coast and get safely back again once the evening finishes well after dark.
What the pickup actually involves
A coach works its way around a number of different hotels scattered across whichever pickup zone you're in before finally heading inland to the castle itself, which means the pickup time confirmed on your booking is a window rather than a fixed, guaranteed clock time — you may be picked up close to the start of your window or somewhat later, depending on how the route falls that particular night. The full door-to-door journey, once every stop on the collection route is counted, can comfortably run past an hour even though the direct drive from the coast to Aldea Blanca is short, so build a little patience into the start of your evening rather than treating the pickup as instantaneous.
Making your own way instead
Aldea Blanca, where Castillo San Miguel actually sits, is a short and fairly direct run inland from any of the three resort towns, and both metered taxis and self-drive hire cars work well as an alternative to a shared coach pickup. Parking is available on site at the castle, and arriving under your own steam gives you noticeably more control over both ends of the night — no waiting on a hotel-by-hotel collection route on the way there, and no shared drop-off order to sit through once the dancing winds down.
Where the castle actually sits
Castillo San Miguel stands on Avenida Edelmira Alfonso in Aldea Blanca, part of the municipality of San Miguel de Abona, inland from the coastal resort strip and roughly between the neighbouring municipalities of Granadilla de Abona and Arona. It is not on the seafront promenade that most first-time visitors to the south of Tenerife get to know first, which is precisely why the pickup option exists on almost every listing for this evening — without it, or without a car, the castle is a genuinely awkward place to reach.
Building the rest of your evening around it
Because the castle is inland and the whole evening runs on into the night, most visitors find it works best to treat this as the one fixed, non-negotiable booking of the day and build everything else — a beach afternoon, time at the pool, a wander around one of the resort towns — around it rather than the other way round. Give yourself a calm, unhurried run-up to your pickup window instead of cutting it fine after a full day out elsewhere on the island; the one part of this evening every source agrees is worth protecting against delay is simply getting to the gate on time.
